Concrete & Light

Shot in the courtyard of the Royal Danish Academy, this collection explores the tension between institutional architecture and the body in motion. Fourteen looks in washed linen and bleached poplin.

The courtyard of the Royal Danish Academy on Kongens Nytorv is not an obvious location for a fashion shoot. Its neoclassical proportions — the strict symmetry, the sandstone colonnade — resist the casual intimacy that contemporary fashion often demands. But for Monograph's spring/summer 2026 collection, it was the only possible setting.

"Concrete and Light began with a single observation," says creative director Astrid Vinter. "In Copenhagen, from May through August, the light at six in the evening is almost identical to the light at six in the morning. The day refuses to end. I wanted clothes that existed in that refusal — garments that felt suspended between arrival and departure."

The collection comprises fourteen looks, all in washed linen or bleached poplin, with a single fabric — a silk-cotton blend developed exclusively for Monograph by a mill in Biella — appearing in three pieces. The palette is restricted to white, off-white, and a grey so pale it reads as shadow rather than colour.

Photographer Jonas Meier worked with a single 85mm lens throughout the shoot, moving between the courtyard's colonnade and its open centre to create a visual rhythm that mirrors the collection's own alternation between structure and fluidity.

The collection will be available from June 2026.
